CIS chief prosecutors meet in Minsk

DUSHANBE, September 12, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s Prosecutor-General Sherkhon Salimzoda heading a Tajik delegation today morning departed for the Belarusian capital Minsk to attend a meeting of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutor-Generals of CIS Member States that will open there on September 14, according to Tajik Prosecutor-General’s Office.

The meeting is expected to discuss issues related to completed and ongoing projects for cooperation in combating the transnational organized crime, protection of rights of citizens being outside their nations within the CIS area and a draft agreement on the procedure of provision of pensions of prosecutors and members of their families as well as state insurance of prosecutors, the source said.

The meeting participants will also elect new chairperson of the Coordinating Council and discuss amendments to the regulations of the Council’s work and provisions on its Secretariat, scientific and methodical center and its press organ.

Besides, the CIS chief prosecutors will also consider and approve the plan of work of the Coordinating Council designed for 2011-2013 and issues of improvement of cooperation between CIS prosecutor’s offices in combating corruption and other crimes, the source added.

Founded in 1995, the Coordinating Council of Prosecutor-Generals of CIS Member States now groups chief prosecutors of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
