KHUJAND, September 13, 2011, Asia-Plus  — One person was killed and at least two others were injured on September 12 as a heavy truck KamAZ fell into an 80-meter precipice in Sughd province.

According to the Sughd traffic police department, the accident took place near the Khoushekat village in Ayni district Monday evening.

“Driver Loiq Rabiyev, 20, failed to control the truck and it fell into the precipice,” said the source.  “As a result o the accident, one of the passengers died on the spot, while the driver and another passenger sustained various injuries and were taken to the Ayni central district hospital.”

According to the statistical data from the Sughd traffic police department, 190 traffic accidents have been reported in northern Tajikistan over the first seven months of this year.  84 persons were killed and 198 other persons were injured in those accidents.
