DUSHANBE, October 11, 2011, Asia-Plus — Shukurjon Zuhurov, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) yesterday met here with Mr. Jan Fischer, the Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

In the course of the talks, Mr. Zuhurov reportedly briefed Mr. Fischer on activities of Tajik parliament and hailed the EBRD’s country strategy for Tajikistan, the Majlisi Namoyandagon press center reports.

Tajik parliament speaker, in particular, noted that investment climate in Tajikistan was becoming more and more attractive from year to year due to the adopted laws, the source said.

He expressed confidence that along with other international financial institutions the EBRD would work more actively in Tajikistan.

Zuhurov stressed that a new draft tax code of Tajikistan would help develop entrepreneurship and the private sector in the country.

Mr. Fischer, for his part, noted that the EBRD intended to provide consultative assistance to Tajikistan’s parliament in the field of law and judicial system reforms, the source added.
