DUSHANBE, September 12, 2011, Asia-Plus  — On Wednesday October 12, the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) endorsed the bill requiring amendments to the law on state forecasts and social development concepts, programs and strategies.

Under the amendments made to the law, all cities and districts of the country will adopt their own development programs.  The bill was initiated by a group of deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon.

Speaking at the session, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Farrukh Hamraliyev noted that the government had set up a working group for preparing new amendments to that law and suggested that endorsement of the amendments worked out by MPs should be postponed.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon speaker, however, said, “The amendments worked out by MPs will be endorsed today, while the amendments prepared by the government will be considered separately.”

Parliamentarians also approved Tajikistan’s joining the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement concerning the international registration of industrial designs.
