KHUJAND, December 13, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Khujand resident Denis Martynov, 33, has been arrested on suspicion of killing his concubine Olga Saltanova and Ibrohim Salimov, according to the Sughd police directorate.

The source says the bodies of Ibrohim Salimov and Olga Saltanova were found in Salimov’s apartment in the afternoon of December 5.  They had been stabbed to death.

“The preliminary investigation has established that Martynov came to Salimov’s apartment at around 13:00 on December 5 and saw his concubine there,” said the source.  “Martynov inflicted a number of stab wounds on them with a kitchen knife.”

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Martynov under the provisions of Article 104 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – murder; an investigation is under way.

According to data from the Sughd police directorate, 39 killings have been reported in northern Tajikistan in January-November this year.
