DUSHANBE, December 26, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato” Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing, the Founder and President of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology met here with Tajik Deputy Prime Minister, Ms. Ruqiya Qurbonova, on December 25 at the end of his three-day visit to Tajikistan, the Tajik MFA information department reports.

During his stay in Dushanbe, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato” Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing also held talks with deputy ministers of foreign affairs, education as well as economic development and trade.

The sides reportedly discussed issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Malaysia.

Tajik officials have offered to open the branch of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Tajikistan, the source said.

Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (referred to as LUCT, LKW or just Limkokwing) was established in 1991 by founder and namesake Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing.  Its first campus consisted of a few bungalows in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.  It is a private international university with a presence across three continents: Africa, Europe and Asia. With its main campus in Malaysia, the university has over 30,000 students from more than 150 countries, studying in its 11 other campuses in Botswana, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Lesotho, Swaziland and the United Kingdom.

The institute formed relationships with universities and colleges in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.  At the same time, the institute forged links with industry to provide direction and support to enable the university to create an environment that was conducive to education.

Limkokwing offers courses in Foundation, Diploma, Degree, Masters, DBA, PHD, Language and professional courses. The university offers these programs through six faculties — Design Innovation, Multimedia Creativity, Communication, Media & Broadcasting, Information Technology & Computing, Business Management & Globalization and Architecture & Built Environment — and through three schools — the Sound and Music Academy, Film and Television Academy and the International Lifestyle Design Academy.
