DUSHANBE, December 27, 2011, Asia-Plus  — On Monday December 26, President Emomali Rahmon signed a number of laws adopted by the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) and seconded by the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper house of parliament).

The president, in particular, signed the laws on concessions and environmental examination as well as the laws requiring amendments to the current laws on militsia (police), weapons and combating corruption as well as the country’s customs code.

All the laws signed by the president will take effect after being published in the official media outlets.

The laws of Tajikistan shall be submitted for signature to the President.  If the President does not agree with the law, then he within fifteen days shall return to the Majlisi Namoyandagon.  The Majlisi Milli and the Majlisi Namoyandagon in accordance with the procedure determined by the Constitution shall consider the mentioned law repeatedly.  In the event of the repeated consideration a majority of two-thirds of a total number of members of the Majlisi Milli and deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon shall vote for the text of the law previously adopted.   The President within ten days shall sign and publish the law.
