DUSHANBE, January 3, 2011, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Six persons were killed and at least one other was seriously injured on January 1 as Mercedes crashed into a tree in the Yovon district, Khatlon province.

The source in the Interior Ministry traffic police directorate says the accident took place in the afternoon on the highway from Yovon to the Jomi district.

“24-year-old H.N. failed to control his Mercedes and crashed it into a tree,” said the source.  “Driver and five passengers aged 20 to 21 died on the spot.  Only one passenger survived.  He is currently in critical condition at the Yovon central district hospital.”
