The Sughd regional court sentenced Fakhriddin Mirboboyev, 32, to life in prison at the end of last week.  The sentence followed his conviction on charges of murder of two and more persons committed with special cruelty (Article 104 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code) and robbery (Article 249 (4).

Shuhrat Jalolov, 36, and his wife were found killed in their house in Istaravshan on August 23, 2011.

Shuhrat Jalolov had worked with one of the currency exchange offices in Istaravshan and Fakhriddin Mirboboyev and his accomplice Mirzo Olimov penetrated into their house on the night of August 22-23 and stabbed them to death, the source said.  The criminals reportedly seized 28,000 somoni.

Mirzo Olimov committed suicide straight after the crime, the source added.
