DUSHANBE, February 28, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The Ministry of Education (MoE) has applied to President Emomali Rahmon offering to rename the Dushanbe-based Presidential Lyceum the Presidential International School.

Abdusamad Mulloyev, the head of the department for pre-school and school education within the Ministry of Education, says the offer was justified by the fact that the only International School functioning in the country is financed by Turkey, while it would be good if Tajikistan had its own International School.

“Talented children will be selected for studying at this school irrespective of their citizenship,” said Mulloyev.  “There are many diplomatic missions and international organizations in our country and children of international staff of them who do not speak Tajik could study at this school.”

Dushanbe-based International School that is financed by Turkey now has some 400 pupils, including children of foreign diplomats and foreign citizens living in Dushanbe.  An annual tuition fee for studying at this educational institution is some 7,000 U.S. dollars.

Meanwhile, implementation of the project for opening of the Tajik-Iranian International School in Dushanbe is going on.  The Iranian side, however, says the opening of the Tajik-Iranian International School is being delayed due to problems connected with collection of documents necessary for getting license from the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan.
