DUSHANBE, March 27, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Police officers have reportedly seized a large amount of hashish in the southern Khatlon province.

An official source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) told Asia-Plus Tuesday afternoon that an operation carried out by police officers in the Panj district yesterday led to the arrest of a drug pusher.

“A package of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing some 2.5 kilograms was found hidden in his car,” said the source.  “Besides, some 11 kilograms of hashish were found in his house.”

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pusher and an investigation is under way.
