Three police officers were assaulted in south Tajikistan by a group of intoxicated persons.

The accident took place on April 11 in Kulob, Tajik Ministry of Interior told the AP. The next day the police have arrested a 33-year-old Kurbonsho Sharifov, who has previous criminal records for illegal drug trafficking.

According to the source, the arrested suspect and his friends, who are still being searched by the police, assaulted police officers Ahmedjon Ahmedov, Asadullo Imomov and Suhrob Yunusov.

Later on they began to throw stones to personal vehicle of one of the assaulted police officers and escaped from the scene.

Criminal case was launched, investigation is under way.
