Three citizens of Tajikistan, all arrested in January this year with huge consignment of drugs, are facing trial in the Khatlon’s military tribunal.

According to chairman of Khatlon military court Tohir Iskandarov, there are three defendants at the bar – Hurshed Rahimov, Mahmadullo Majidov and officer of the Tajik State National Security Committee’s border guards Zievuddin Sharipov.

Rahimov and Majidov are accused of illegal drug trafficking while Sharipov is charged with organization of illegal crossing of state border of Tajikistan. Criminal proceedings were submitted to the court on April 26.

Mahmadullo Majidov, also known as Mehrubon, a son of Major General of police, head of the republican traffic police’s special unit Habibullo Majidov, Hurshed Rahimov, a son of a driver who works for the Tajik embassy in Moscow who was later dismissed from his position and an officer of border guards of the Tajik State National Security Committee Zievuddin Sharipov were arrested as a result of a special operation in Kabodien region on January 10.

The police searches for the fourth member of the criminal group Nurullo Odinaev, a son of former head of the Tajik Government’s Special Property Committee Hikmatullo Odinaev, who managed to escape.

The defendants were arrested when trying to traffic nearly 110kg of drugs from south Tajikistan.
