Tajik Emergency and Civil Defense Committee provided new data about the consequences of the recent earthquake which caused severe damage to eastern part of the country.

The disaster caused damage to 100 houses in Tavildara region, of which 50 were totally destroyed, a spokesperson for the Committee Nargis Nurova told AP.

“The disaster caused damage to a series of other villages of Tavildara region: Hamdara, Chashmai Kabud, Girdob, Rubotnoli Garibon, Shur. Most severe damage was caused to Rubotnol village where 17 houses were totally destroyed and 19 partially destroyed,” Nurova has said.

No victims were reported, the Committee said.

In a telephone conversation with AP resident of Tavildara region Nahtuti Alieva, chief editor of the regional newspaper, said that 16 people were hospitalized to the Central regional hospital.

“Yesterday Tajik Vice Prime Minister Murodali Alimardon visited the region. The authorities delivered foodstuffs and tents for residents of Rubotnol village. Local officials make up lists of victims, estimate the total damage caused by the disaster,” Alieva has said.

She added that Tajikistan President is scheduled to visit Tavildara region within the nearest time.
