On May 23, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon visited Hissar region.

As reported by the President’s press service, in the course of his trip President Rahmon observed the ongoing reconstruction of the Dushanbe-Tursunzade highway.

President expressed his concern of slow reconstruction process and ordered to speed it up. Reconstruction is carried out by the China Road corporation.

More than 500 workers and experts, over 70% of which are citizens of Tajikistan, and nearly 40 units of machinery are involved in reconstruction of the highway, press service reports.

Rahmon ordered Tajik Transport Ministry and Chinese partners to speed up reconstruction of the Dushanbe-Dangara highway, construction of Chormagzak and Shakhristan tunnels and preparation of the Ayni-Penjikent highway reconstruction project.

It was noted that the construction of Shakhristan tunnel should finish by September this year, while construction of Chormagzak tunnel is expected to be finished in September next year.

President Rahmon also observed the process of ongoing agricultural work in Hissar region.
