‘Reporters Without Borders’ provided a $300 worth of assistance to TV Safina’s reporter Daler Sharipov who was attacked by unknown men, the Association of Independent Media of Tajikistan, NANSMIT, reports.

As reported by NANSMIT, on May 25 NANSMIT’s chairman Nuriddin Karshiboev handed the funds to Sharipov who was beaten up by unknown group of people on May 7 this year. The funds will help to cover Sharipov’s medical treatment.

“The association decided to provide moral and materials assistance to Daler who suffered for his professional activity and civil position and appealed to the Reporters Without Borders,” Karshiboev has said. “This small assistance is the manifestation of their solidarity.”

Young journalist Daler Sharipov thanked NANSMIT and its partner organizations and all those who supported him in this situation. “Despite all those barriers and threats he is ready to continue his professional activity and is not going to change his professional activity,” NANSMIT reported.

Karshiboev noted that NANSMIT keeps on searching for new opportunities to provide legal and other support to their young colleague.
