Berdykul Rasulov, lawyer of Juraev’s brothers, was arrested following the arrest of Rustam Olimov, who was detained a few days ago for taking a bribe while serving as a public prosecutor in a lawsuit against Tolib and Fahriddin Juraevs, brothers of Nizomkhon Juraev, in 2008-2009.

As reported by the Tajik State Financial Control and Anti-Corruption Agency, Rasulov is facing charges under two articles – fraud and bribery.

“According to the information available, the lawyer played the role of a mediator when he took a bribe from his clients’ relatives and gave it to public servants,” the source reported refusing to provide further details.

According to the counter-corruption agency, Rustam Olimov is accused of taking a $350.000 bribe for his contribution to reduction of Fahriddin and Tolib Juraevs’ sentences. Rasulov can also be involved in giving this bribe to the public prosecutor.

However, the verdict against 31 defendants in Juraev’s case was passed in 2009. Tolib and Fahriddin Juraevs were sentenced to 25 and 21 years in jail.
