Two successful counter-drug operations have been conducted in Sughd area in the course of the first phase of Kuknor-2012 special operation, which is carried out by the Tajik Drug Control Agency.

As reported by the Agency, 41-year-old resident of Kumsangir region of Khatlon region was arrested as a result of the counter-drug operation in Khujand.

He was arrested with two polyethylene bags with 64 pressed plates in the form of books inside.

48-year-old driver of VAZ21213 was arrested in Ganjin region as a result of the second operation. Drug fighters have found and seized two bags with 8 bricks of gray color and specific smell inside.

“The analysis showed it was hashish. The total weight made 15kg,” the source has said.

The arrested traffickers have previous criminal records for similar crimes.

Criminal proceedings were launched under article 200 part 4 (illicit turnover of drugs for further sale). The investigation is under way.
