DUSHANBE, June 11, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Implementation of agreements reached during recent President Rahmon’s visit to Beijing was a major topic of a working meeting held by President Emomali Rahmon last Friday.

According to the presidential official website, the meeting participants included members of the government and senior officials from ministries and president’s executive office.

We will recall that ten new agreements on bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China in sectors like energy, industry, transportation, agriculture, construction, geology and banking were signed during President Rahmon’s state visit to China that lasted from June 1 to June 5.

Speaking at the meeting, the head of state reportedly ordered relevant ministries and organizations to take adequate measures to ensure the well-timed implementation of the mentions agreements.

Radio Liberty’s Tajik reports that the president”s office says China will provide Tajikistan with some $1 billion in loans and aid, the bulk of which will go toward construction of a cement factory.

The presidential office said that some $600 million has been earmarked for building a cement factory capable of producing 3 million tons of cement annually.

The cement factory is to be a joint project between the Chinese state-owned National Materials Group Corporation and Tajikistan”s TALCO aluminum company.

The statement said part of the remaining money will be used to build a new power generation plant in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe.
