DUSHANBE, June 16, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Human Rights Ombudsman of Tajikistan, Zarif Alizoda, is visiting provinces to hold meetings with representatives of local authorities and law enforcement agencies as well as to attend seminars and roundtable dedicated to protection of human rights and freedoms in the country.

According to the Human Rights Ombudsman’s Office in Dushanbe, Alizoda has visited Kulob, Qurghon Teppa and Khorog this week.

In Kulob and Khorog, the ombudsman, in particular, received a group of citizens and drew attention of the local authorities to the necessity of tackling problems related to violation of human rights.

Next week, Alizoda is expected to visit Istaravshan and Khujand in Sughd province and a number of districts in the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan).
