DUSHANBE, June 22, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Shukurjon Zuhurov yesterday met here with Ukrainian parliamentary delegation, led by Pavel Unguryan.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon press center reports further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine was the focus of the meeting.

Shukurjon Zuhurov, in particular, noted that the current level of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries was not enough and pointed to the necessity of using existing potential to promote further development of many-sided relations between Tajikistan and Ukraine.

Pavel Unguryan, for his part, noted that Ukrainian parliamentarians would take efforts to promote further expansion of bilateral cooperation that would meet interests of the two nations.  

Ukraine’s parliament is called the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Supreme Council of Ukraine).  The Verkhovna Rada is a unicameral parliament composed of 450 deputies, which is presided over by a chairman (speaker). It meets in the Verkhovna Rada building in Ukraine”s capital Kyiv.
