DUSHANBE, June 26, 2012, Asia-Plus — The 13th Network Meeting of Stakeholder Organizations on Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation will take place in Dushanbe on June 28.

Press release issued by TajWSS Project says “TajWSS Network Open Floor” – a new fixed item in the agenda is introduced for the members to discuss last significant steps taken by the Government of Tajikistan in forming institutional framework for the management and operation in the drinking water subsector.

Mr. Sulton Rahimov, First Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Land Reclamation will provide feedbacks to TajWSS network members from Rio +20 Summit held in Brazil on 20-22 June and National Policy Dialogue on Integrated Water Resources Management (NPD IWRM) in Tajikistan, held in Dushanbe on May 25.

Mr. Akbar Khojayev from Antimonopoly Service under the Government of Tajikistan will present on the review of a current Tariff system, the rules and procedures of tariff setting for the drinking water services, and provide recommendations for the improvement of the system.

Mr. Faizullo Ismatov, Deputy Head of Rudaki district will share the presentation titled “In Rudaki Single Window, Water Trust Fund and Water Federation are up and running”, with the update on TajWSS project from the field.

Mr. Ayniddin Mirzoyev, Head of LLC “Obi Nushoki” will present the success story of the public-private sector partnership that resulted in the rehabilitation of water supply system in Gulshan village of Farhor district.  Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is an effective mechanism of interaction between government and business directed to the solution of socially significant problems on mutually beneficial terms, through construction, rehabilitation and management of economic and social infrastructure.

The design and implementation of a participative awareness campaign through the human rights-based approach to water governance conducted under the frame of the UNDP GoalWash/HRBA Programme in Ayni and Isfara districts will be shared by Mr. Firouz Odinayev, Project Coordinator.

This project is funded by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).  SDC is responsible for the overall coordination of development activities and cooperation with Eastern Europe, as well as for the humanitarian aid delivered by the Swiss Confederation. SDC is part of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

The project is implemented by Oxfam, which works with others to overcome poverty and suffering.  Oxfam GB is a member of Oxfam International.
