DUSHANBE, November 9, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi met with Mr. Rizanur Meral, Head of Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) in Istanbul, Turkey on November 8.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the sides discussed state and prospects of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey.

Investment climate in Tajikistan, Tajikistan’s water-and-energy potential as well as organization of a Tajik-Turkish business forum scheduled for December this year were also among major topics of the meeting.

Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (Türkiye İşadamları ve Sanayiciler Konfederasyonu or TUSKON) is the largest union of employers in Turkey.  It has more than 40,000 members, 90% are from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with fewer than 50 employees.  TUSKON is engaged in lobbying all decision-makers at the local, regional, national and global levels.

Every year, TUSKON organizes a number of delegations of Turkish business leaders with several projects to targeted countries, especially underdeveloped and developing countries.  Its current president is Rızanur Meral, managing director of SANKO Automotive Group.
