DUSHANBE, November 13, 2012, Asia-Plus  — International Education Week is celebrated in Tajikistan from November 13 to 16.

To kick off the program, American Corner Dushanbe hosts an educational fair on the 4th floor of the National Library today from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with educational organizations including ACCELS, Education USA, IREX, Bactria Cultural Center, Tempus, DAAD, and UCA. Each organization is introducing their programs to participants, provide information on educational opportunities, and answer questions from attendees.

The educational fair starts at 2:00 p.m. with speeches from the U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of Education.  After the fair, events will be held across Tajikistan from November 14-16 on a variety of educational topics and opportunities.

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.  This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.  Exchanges are critical to developing mutual understanding and respect, building leadership abroad, fostering an appreciation for the United States, and investing in the future relationship between Americans and people around the world.
