DUSHANBE, December 11, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Asror Odinayev, head of Tajik migration service agency’s office in Russia met with Anatoly Kuznetsov, deputy head of Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS) in Moscow on December 7.

Issues related to stay of Tajik labor migrants in Russia, issuance of work permits and patents were reportedly among major topics of the meeting.

According to Tajik migration service agency, the sides also discussed organized recruitment of labor migrants in Tajikistan, voluntary insurance and medical examination of labor migrants.

Experts note that it would be expedient to sign an agreement on labor activity and protection of rights of Russian nationals in Tajikistan and protection of rights of Tajik nationals in Russia before January 1, 2013.

We will recall that the document on easing some of the registration restrictions for Tajik migrant workers coming to Russia was signed by Safiallo Devonayev, head of the Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan, and Konstantin Romodanovsky, director of Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS), in Dushanbe on October 5 this year.

Under this document, the period for registration for Tajik nationals on their arrival in Russia is extended from seven to fifteen days.  Besides, the term of work permit for Tajik nationals is extended up to three years.
