DUSHANBE, March 28, 2013, Asia-Plus — On Thursday March 28, Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi met here with his Kyrgyz counterpart Erlan Abdyldayev, who arrived in Dushanbe to attend the 11th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).
According to the Kyrgyz MFA press center, the upcoming official visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Kyrgyzstan was a major topic of the meeting.
The sides also discussed measures to ensure further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and the results of the first meeting of Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan Interstate Council.
In the course of the talks, Zarifi and Abdyldayev also considered issues related to energy, transportation and border cooperation between the two countries.
They pointed to the necessity of speeding up the process of delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. In this connection, the sides agreed to submit proposals on raising the status of the border commissions for consideration to their governments.
Tajik and Kyrgyz foreign ministers signed a cooperation program for 2013, the source said.
