DUSHANBE, May 3, 2013, Asia-Plus  — As part of his tour of districts in Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan), Shukurjon Zuhurov, the head of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament yesterday met with regional administrators, heads of organizations and activists of the area in the administrative center of the Rasht district.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says president’s annual address to the parliament was a major topic of the meeting.

Zuhurov’s discussions with the Rasht population also focused on issues related to problems facing the Rasht Valley, involvement of local youth in vocational and technical education, establishment of enterprises for processing of farm produce in the area, improvement of the population’s wellbeing, irrigation of lands, improvement of access to medical services for the local population and increase in the entry quota for local youth to study at Tajik higher educational institutions.

While in the Rasht district, Zuhurov also visited a number of construction sites and met with students and teachers from the Branch of Tajik Sate Teachers’ Training University in Rasht, Sultonov said.
