DUSHANBE, May 24, 2013, Asia-Plus – On Thursday May 23, Tajik Ambassador to Turkey, Farrukh Sharipov, met with Denizli Governor Abdulkadir Demir, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The two reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral and regional economic cooperation as well as aspects of bilateral cooperation in sectors like energy, agriculture, minerals, and tourism.

On the same day, Ambassador Sharipov met with Dr. Huseyn Bagci, President/Rector of Pamukkale University to discuss a student quota for citizens of Tajikistan and establishment of cooperation between Pamukkale University and Tajik higher educational institutions.

Tajik diplomat also held talks with Nejat Kocer, President of the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry.  The sides reportedly discussed opportunities of trade and economic cooperation, establishment of joint ventures and holding of textile exhibitions in Dushanbe.

Denizli is a growing industrial city in the southwestern part of Turkey.  Denizli is located in the country”s Aegean Region.

The city has a population of about 525.497 (2012 census).  It jumped from 389,000 in 2007, due to the merger of 13 municipalities and 10 villages.  Denizli has achieved a remarkable economic development in the last decades based notably on textile production and exports.  

The city of Denizli is known for its textile industry and connected fields of activity such as the dye industry.  The textile industry in Denizli grew rapidly in the 1980s and 1990s making itself a place in the domestic market and for exports.  Towels and bathrobes and other home textiles are products associated with Denizli in particular emphasis.  Denizli grew rapidly in the last decades, raising a number of very rich businessmen.  The biggest firms in the city include Degirmenci and Funika (especially for bathrobes).
