DUSHANBE, July 8, 2013, Asia-Plus — A group of unidentified persons reportedly attacked the branch of Agroinvestbonk in the Fayzobod district, some 56 kilometers east of Dushanbe and killed security guard.

According to local residents, the assailants seized the guard’s pistol and escaped.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) says an official statement on that subject will be released in the near future.

It is still unknown whether the assailants seized the bank money or not.  

Agroinvestbonk is the second largest commercial bank in Tajikistan, focused on providing financial services to micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises and to the agricultural sector.  Founded in 1992, Agroinvestbonk, with headquarters in Dushanbe, has main branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa and more than 60 other branches across the republic.
