KHUJAND, July 17, 2013, Asia-Plus — In a report released at a news conference in Khujand, Major-General Sharif Nazarov, the chief of the Interior Ministry’s Office for Sughd noted on July 17 that 2,391 crimes have been reported in the province over the first six months of this year, which was 363 cases more than in this period last year.

According to him, 25 murders have been reported in Sughd over the same six-month period (In the first half-year of 2012, 18 murders were reported in the province) and 23 of them have been solved.

93.76 percent of all the crimes reported in the province over the report period have been solved, Nazarov noted.

“The murder of security guard at the office of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) in the Asht district and the murder of entrepreneur Ahmadkhouja Boboyev and his family in the Bobojonghafurov district have remained unsolved so far,” said Nazarov.  “Investigation into these crimes is under way.”

We will recall that unidentified persons reportedly penetrated into the house of Ahmadkhouja Boboyev overnight June 1-2 and shot him, his wife Hayotkhon Boboyeva and two children – Rukhshona Boboyeva, 16, and Suhrobjon Boboyev, 15 – to death from assault rifle Kalashnikov.  The assailants locked their six-year-old son Sanjarbek in a sauna.  They seized approximated US$30,000 worth of gold jewelries, set fire to the house and escaped.  The six-year-old Sanjarbek died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Entrepreneurs from Sughd have offered a $30,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in connection with the murder of Ahmadkhouja Boboyev and his family in the Bobojonghafurov district.
