Dushanbe. 23 August. “Asia-Plus” –  A meeting between the Director of Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan, Lieutenant-General, Rustam Nazarov, and Deputy Director of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate of the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Diane McKelvey, was held in Dushanbe in order to familiarize with the drug situation in Tajikistan and discussion on further cooperation.

According to the drug-enforcement agency’s public relations department, during the meeting, the Agency’s Director told the guest about the Agency’s tasks and introduced her with the drug situation in Tajikistan, Afghanistan, as well as the Central Asian region.

The British diplomat was informed about organization for cooperation of law-enforcement agencies of Tajikistan with their colleagues in neighboring countries in the region on drug enforcement, as well as about the first international anti-drug actions held in bordering areas with Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The statement reads: “The parties expressed satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Kingdom on fighting drug trafficking, and other challenges and threats to the modern society. Diane McKelvey highly appreciated the Agencies achievements in fighting drugs, and noted the successful work of the country’s law enforcement agencies in clamping down on drug trafficking into the country.”
