Dushanbe. 26 August. “Asia-Plus” –
A meeting of representatives from transportation ministries of Tajikistan and Iran was held at the end of last week in Dushanbe.
Ministry of Transportation of Tajikistan website reports that the parties discussed the current state of the tunnel’s funding, and transfer of funds to a special account for the completion of the tunnel.
The report states: “The parties also discussed questions regarding the complexities associated with the postponement of the tunnel’s construction work, drawing up a work plan, and specification of activities in this area.”
Deputy Transportation Minister, Sherali Ganjalov, told in an interview to Asia-Plus that despite all the existing problems with the completion of Istiqlal tunnel, the main goal should not be forgotten – to drill the tunnel and provide passage.
