DUSHANBE, August 28, 2013, Asia-Plus – President of Tajikistan, Emamali Rahman, met with the Governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority, Abdullatif bin Ahmed Al Othman, and discussed cooperation issues between two states in the sphere of economy, trade, and investments.
According to the President’ press office, Tajik leader discussed expansion of cooperation between two states in the frame of international organizations, including Organization of Islamic Cooperation, with the member of Saudi government.
The parties expressed confidence that the first meeting of intergovernmental commission of two states on trade and economic cooperation, being held in Dushanbe, will give a new impetus for development bilateral relations.
It was noted in the meeting that the government of Saudi Arabia has provided $60 million for the implementation of seven projects in Tajikistan through the Saudi Development Fund. A few days ago an agreement was signed, according to which Saudi Arabia will provide approximately $25 million as a soft loan for construction of schools in Tajikistan.
