DUSHANBE, September 2, 2013, Asia-Plus – The Democratic Party of Tajikistan will participate in Presidential elections, scheduled for 6 November, with its own candidate, and is not going to join a coalition with other political parties. Democratic Party Leader, Saidjafar Ismanov, told about this in an interview to Asia-Plus.

According to him, the Democrats are reviewing six candidates among the Party activists.

Mr. Ismanov said: “Democratic Party single candidate for Head of State will be determined at the Party Congress, which will be held on 17 September in Asia Grand Hotel, in Dushanbe.”

Mr. Ismanov said that he, as Party Leader, took part in the meetings of the Union of Reformist Forces of Tajikistan, which is going to have its single candidate for President.

The Party Leader said: “We can support many points in the URFT Concept, but our party cells in the regions decided that we should have our own candidate in the elections.”

The Democratic Party was created in 1990, and has approximately 8 thousand members today.
