DUSHANBE, September 19, 2013, Asia-Plus — Issues related to conducting assessment studies for the Roghun hydroelectricity project were discussed at a meeting of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon with the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Saroj Kumar Jha that took place here on September 19.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the World Bank official informed Tajik leader that the results of the first stage of techno-economic assessment studies will be published in late September and will be discussed in October at the consultative meeting with participation of interested countries of the region.

The sides reportedly expressed confidence that the techno-economic as well as the environmental and social assessment studies for the Roghun hydroelectricity project will be conducted at high international level with due regard to interests of all countries of the Central Asian region. 

In the course of the talks, the two also discussed cooperation on implementation of the Central Asia South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project (CASA 1000).
