DUSHANBE, October 28, 2013, Asia-Plus — On Sunday October 27, Tajik President Emomali sent a message of congratulations to his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of Independence Day of Turkmenistan.
In his message, Rahmon, in particular, noted that Tajikistan highly appreciates the high level of partnership with Turkmenistan and expressed confidence that relations between the two nations, which are based on historical traditions of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation, will develop in the future as well.
Independence Day of Turkmenistan is the main state holiday in Turkmenistan. This date is celebrated in Turkmenistan annually on October 27.
On October 27, 1991 the Supreme Council of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic adopted the law “About Independence and Bases of a State System of Turkmenistan.” After disintegration of the USSR the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic became one of the last to the Soviet Socialist Republic on the former Soviet Union, proclaimed the state sovereignty.
