DUSHANBE, December 9, 2013, Asia-Plus – Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in Khatlon province have reportedly broken up a drug-trafficking group in the Farkhor district.

According to the DCA press center, a 19-year-old resident of Farkhor was arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing.  A package of raw opium was confiscated from him.

The final phase of the operation that was carried out in the Darkad jamoat of the Farkhor district led to the arrest of the leader of that drug-trafficking group.

A package of narcotic drug that tested positive to raw opium weighing some 20 kilograms was found in the ringleader’s home, the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug traffickers and an investigation is under way.
