KHUJAND, December 10, 2013, Asia-Plus — Two persons have been detained on suspicion of beating dean of one of faculties at Khujand State University (Sughd province).

According to the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd province, two persons were detained in Khujand on December 9 on suspicion of brutally beating Munir Khojayev, Dean of the Faculty of Geography at Khujand State University named after Bobojon Ghafourov 

“The suspects are residents of Khatlon province and Gorno Badakhshan and the incident is not connected with Khojayev’s professional activity,” a source at the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd province said.  He refrained from giving further details.    

We will recall that Munir Khojayev, 49, was found with multiple wounds at a bus stop in Khujand in the morning of December 5.  He was rushed to the Khujand central city hospital, where he died of wounds he sustained.
