DUSHANBE, March 31, 2014, Asia-Plus – An operation carried out by officers from the police station in Dushanbe’s Shohmansour district has led to the arrest of alleged drug peddler, the Interior Ministry’s website reported on March 31.

A package of narcotic drug that tested positive to raw opium weighing 10.858 kilograms was reportedly confiscated from him.

Besides, officers from the Interior Ministry’s office in the Danghara district of Khatlon province have arrested local resident Mirzovali Ghulomov, 43, on suspicion of drug trafficking, the website added.  970 grams of raw opium were confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against both detained drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
