DUSHANBE, July 9, 2014, Asia-Plus — State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Switzerland in financial and banking sectors were a major topic of a meeting of Tajik Minister of Finance Abdusalom Qurbonov with Head of Switzerland’s Federal Department of Finance (the Swiss finance minister), Ms. Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, that took place here on July 8.

According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) Secretariat, a special attention was paid to the process of the implementation of joint projects in Tajikistan and expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The sides also discussed issues related to attraction of investments from Switzerland for enhancement of Tajikistan’s perspective sectors, development of entrepreneurship and business in Tajikistan and introduction of new technologies.

Tajik minister reportedly appreciated Switzerland’s support for carrying out reforms in the country’s financial sector.
