DUSHANBE, January 15, 2015, Asia-Plus — On January 14, 2015, a joint signing ceremony for 7 new projects was held at the Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe.

Japans embassy says the contracts were signed between Mr. Takashi Kamada, Ambassador of Japan to Tajikistan, and the representatives of the 8 beneficiary organizations.

The 7 new projects, funded fully under the framework of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), are:

 

–       “The Project for Construction of School Building for School No.11 in Khirob Village, Baljuvon Jamoat, Baljuvon District” signed with Mr. Foteh Aminzoda, Chairperson of Baljuvon District, for the amount of US$98,222;

–       “The Project for Construction of New School Building for Secondary School No.8 in Semenobod Village, Bokhtariyon Jamoat, Bokhtar District” signed with Mr. Jabbori Ghaffori, Chairperson of Bokhtar District, for the amount of US$ 101,245;

–       “The Project for Provision of Agricultural Machinery to 6 Villages in Lohuti Jamoat, Khovaling District” signed with Mr. Nourullo Mirzoyev, Chairperson of Khovaling District, for the amount of US$99,468;

–       “The Project for Provision of Agricultural Machinery to Darkhon Village, Ismoili Somoni Jamoat, Ghonchi District” signed with Mr. Zufar Ismoilzoda, Chairperson of Ghonchi District, for the amount of US$98,461;

–       “The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment to Central Clinic No.10 of Dushanbe city” signed with Mr. Khushvakht Sharipov, Director of Central Clinic No.10 of Dushanbe City, for the amount of US$99,882;

–       “The Project for Construction of School Building for School No. 25 in Zoron Village, Mujiharf Jamoat, Nourobod District” signed with Mr. Saidamir Siyomardzoda, Chairperson of Nourobod District, for the amount of US$98,151;

–       “The Project for Construction of an Additional Building for School No.15 in Sabzazor village, Langarishoh Jamoat, Tojikobod District” signed with Mr. Husein Alizoda, Chairperson of Tojikobod District, for the amount of US$99,391.

 

During the ceremony, Mr. Kamada stated that Japan’s GGP projects have been able to make a true difference by promoting education, improving medical care and creating jobs in both remote and densely-populated areas of the country. “These projects also play a vital role in further expanding the bilateral partnership that Tajikistan and Japan have established,” he added.

Upon signing, these projects may begin as soon as this month and are expected to bring an improved living condition for the beneficiaries.  The Government of Japan is dedicated to continuing its support for creating a better society for all people and committed to working together with the people of Tajikistan.

Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in developing countries. GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level.  As of today, GGP has supported 337 projects in Tajikistan, for which more than US$ 27.1 million has been provided since 1996.
