KHUJAND, February 24, 2015, Asia-Plus — One person was killed and one another was injured on February 23 as an avalanche hit a minivan in the northern Sughd province.

According to the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd, the tragedy took place in the Ayni district at around 12:30.     

The avalanche reportedly swept the minivan into a 50meter precipice.  The minivan driver, Haidar Shokirov, 33, was killed and his passenger, Usmon Shokirov, sustained serious wounds and was taken to hospital.

We will recall that three persons were killed in an avalanche that occurred on the Shahriston Pass in Sughd province February 22.
