DUSHANBE, June 3, 2015, Asia-Plus – The Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan (IRP) has received response from the interior ministry to its complaint about the ministry’s harassment of IRP members and their families that was sent to the Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda on April 28.

According to the IRP press center, the letter of response signed by the head of the Interior Ministry department for internal security, Major-General Nourullo Orifzoda, notes that the party complaint was thoroughly studied by the ministry leadership and was sent to police departments in the regions.

The letter, in particular, notes that inspections have established that the head of IRP’s organization in the Farkhor district, H. Rahimov, is suspected of hooliganism and the head of IRP’s organization in the Jomi district, Talbaksho Rustamov, was arrested for five days for violating public order.

Meanwhile, the general does not say what forced Rahimov and Rustamov to violate the law, the IRP press center says, noting that rahimov and Rustamov were forced to shave off their beards.

We will recall that IRP deputy leaders Saidumar Husaini and Mahmadali Hayit met with Supreme Court Chairman Shermuhammad Shohiyon on May 30 to complain about the Interior Ministry”s harassment of IRP members and their families, as well as “cases of forcing party members to quit the party.”  The two IRP activist reportedly handed over a 189-page complaint to the court.
