DUSHANBE, June 4, 2015, Asia-Plus – On Wednesday June 3, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov held talks with his Afghan and Iranian counterparts in Moscow on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) foreign ministers’ meeting.

The Tajik MFA information department reports that Aslov and Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan.

They reportedly also exchanged views on a number of regional issues being of mutual interest.

A meeting of Aslov with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif focused on bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in the light of the reached agreements, the Tajik MFA information department reports.

They reportedly exchanged views on the latest developments in the region.

Meanwhile, Iranian news agency

reports that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif voiced concern about menaces of terrorism, citing the bloodshed and crimes against humanity perpetrated by Daesh (the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – ISIL), calling for international cooperation to counter terrorism in the Middle East.

Zarif reportedly referred to longstanding relations between Iran and Tajikistan, calling for enhanced ties between the two nations.  He noted that that peace and security in Tajikistan is of pivotal significance to Tehran.

The Tajik foreign minister, for his part, hailed Iran”s position in regard to stability and development in Tajikistan, according to

Aslov said that terrorist groups, drug traffickers and Daesh terrorist group are the prime sources of instability in the Central Asian countries.  He reportedly called on regional countries to further cooperate to counter the threats.
