DUSHANBE, June 4, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda yesterday met here with his Afghan counterpart Nour ul-Haq Ulumi.
According to the Tajik Interior Ministry press center, the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation in combating transnational crime and drug trafficking.
Rahimzoda reportedly noted that relations between the two ministries were successfully developing due to the combined efforts.
Tajikistan and Afghanistan signed a government-to-government agreement on cooperation in combating drug trafficking in 2005. In 2014, the interior ministries of the two countries signed a cooperation agreement.
Nour ul-Haq Ulumi is an Afghan politician, who served as a Member of the House of the People from 2005 to 2010. Ulumi previously served in the Afghan Army during the Afghan Civil War and left service with the rank of Lieutenant-General. He is currently the leader of the National United Party of Afghanistan, a small left-wing and secular party in Afghanistan that is a member of the National Coalition of Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Interior Affairs of Afghanistan the Afghan National Police, Afghan Special Narcotics Force, Counter Narcotics Police of Afghanistan, and the Afghan Public Protection Force. It also supervises the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Centers (GDPDC).
