On behalf of the Head of MIA of Tajikistan, Militia Lieutenant General Ramadan Rahimzoda, into the beating of a 23-year-old resident of Vahdat city Umar Bobojonov, conducts an official investigation.

As reports the press center of Ministry of Internal Affairs, to investigate the incident was set up an operational investigative group, headed by one of the Deputy Ministers.

“The minister has strictly ordered to the operational investigative group to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” – said the press center of the Interior Ministry.

The press center emphasizes that the public of the country will be informed on the results of the investigation.

According to the information from the relatives of a victim, who is a third-year student of St. Petersburg University, on August 28, he was taken to Vahdat police department on the fact of wearing a beard. On August 29 Umar Bobojonov was taken from the police to the local hospital emergency room with multiple injuries.

The relatives of U. Bobojonov assure that he was severely beaten by police for having a beard.
