Dushanbe. 8 September. “Asia Plus” — Today, on September 8, on the International Day of Journalists Solidarity, Tajik journalists have revered the memory of former President of the Journalists Union of Tajikistan Akbarali Sattorov.

On the event, which was held at the conference hall of the State newspaper and magazine complex “Sharqi Ozod”, gathered together the representatives of local and foreign media, creative and scientific communities, as well as relatives and friends of deceased.

The participants noted that Akbarali Sattorov was actually the founder of the independent media of the republic, adding that he wrote his name into the history of the Tajik journalism.

It was also noted that Akbarali Sattorov has never distanced himself from society, was always close to the reporters, and even before his election as the Head of the Journalists Union he was a chairman for all journalists of the country.

There were once more underlined his human qualities such as openness, breadth of soul, generosity, cheerfulness and a special sense of humor.

The participants proposed to refer to the Dushanbe Majlis deputies, so that one of the streets of the capital was named after Akbarali Sattorov. Also there was announced a proposal for the manufacture and installation of deceased bust in the city.

In addition, it was proposed to establish an annual award named after Akbarali Sattorov, which must be financed by domestic media.

It is also planned to appeal to the local Councils of People”s Deputies of Hissar district with a proposal for giving the name of Akbarali Sattorov to the secondary school №25.

It was also suggested annually celebrate the Day of Solidarity of Journalists of Tajikistan in the day of Akbarali Sattorov`s death (28th of August).

Akbarali Sattorov was born on February 10 in 1965 in the Hissar village of Morteppa district.

In 1982 he graduated from secondary school № 25 and entered the State University named after V.I. Lenin on the Philological Faculty of the Tajik Branch.

In 1982 he graduated from secondary school № 25 of the area and entered the State University of Lenin the Faculty of the Tajik Branch.

In 1990 he graduated from the journalism faculty of Leningrad State University.

From August to November 1990 he worked as a special correspondent for “Tojikistoni sovieti” newspaper.  From November 1990 to November 1994 he worked as a reporter and then as a Head of the Politics and Law Department of “Sadoi Mardum” newspaper.

From 18th of November 1994 to the present day he was the General Director of LLC “Charkhi Gardun.”

In June 2006, he was elected as a Chairman of the Journalists Union of Tajikistan.

Akbarali Sattorov had a wife and four children.
