DUSHANBE, December 16, 2015, Asia-Plus — Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) has ratified an investment agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and Chzhungtsai Mohir Cement LTD (Tajik-Chinese joint company) on construction of enterprises for producing cement, plasterboards and cement sacks in the Yovon district, Khatlon province.

A regular sitting of the second session of Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on December 16. 

Speaking at the session, Lochin Fayzullozoda, the first deputy head of the State Committee on Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), noted that three enterprises – a 1.2 million ton capacity cement plant, an enterprise to produce gypsum plasterboards with annual capacity of 1 million square meters and an enterprise to produce cement sacks with monthly capacity of 8 million pieces – would be constructed in Yovon.

A total cost of this project is 145 million U.S. dollars and the enterprises will create 1,000 new jobs, the GosKomInvest official noted.

According to GosKomInvest, three Chinese businessmen assume the 75% ownership interest in Chzhungtsai Mohir Cement and Tajik partners own 25 percent of the shares in the company.
