DUSHANBE, January 21, 2016, Asia-Plus — Tajik Ambassador to Lithuania (with residence in Minsk, Belarus) Qozidavlat Qoimdodov participated in an annual meeting of Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite with foreign ambassadors resident in and accredited to Lithuania, according to the Tajik Embassy in Minsk.

The meeting took place in Vilnius on January 18.  The President of Lithuania delivered a speech on the main events and achievements of 2015, and outlined the key objectives for this year.

On January 19, Ambassador Qoimdodov reportedly met with Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister, Andrius Krivas to discuss the most important issues of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Lithuania.

The two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Lithuania in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

They reportedly outlined sectors like energy, light industry, agricultural, transport, and tourism, as areas that could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.

Mr. Krivas noted that Lithuania was interested in expansion of a two-way trade with Tajikistan.

He also noted that Lithuania was ready to hold inter-MFA consultations in Dushanbe this year.

On the same day, Ambassador Qoimdodov held talks with Mr. Algis Zvaliauskas, Deputy Minister of transport and Communications of Lithuania.

During the meeting, Tajik diplomat reportedly proposed to accelerate discussion of a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Lithuania on international automobile communication.

Qoimdodov and Zvaliauskas also exchanged views on use of Lithuania ports for shipment of goods from Tajikistan to the European Union and from the European Union to Tajikistan, the source said.
