DUSHANBE, January 25, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik police have seized more than 300 kilograms of narcotic drugs this month so far, Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda told reporters in Dushanbe on January 25.

According to him, the latest large batch was seized by officers of the Interior Ministry’s office in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) on January 24.

Several packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 13 kilograms were reportedly confiscated from a Kyrgyz national and three residents of GBAO’s Shugnan district.

Besides, more than 17 kilograms of hashish were confiscated from a local resident and a Kyrgyz national in the Jirgatol district (Rasht Valley) on January 23, the minister said.

Last year, Tajik police seized 2,000 kilograms of narcotic drugs, the minister added.

In all, 4,676 kilograms of narcotic drugs were seized by Tajik law enforcement authorities and power-wielding structures last year.
